Rock Soccer Announces Fall 2020 In-House Training Program Ages U9-U19

Rock Soccer Families - Important Message Regarding Fall Soccer - Please Read

Dear parents,

 The Rock Soccer Board is reaching out to you this evening to update all parents and coaches with regards to our plans for the fall season. There are some actions required on your behalf and we would ask that you read this email in its entirety.

 Tonight, we participated in a call with the other Madison Area Youth Soccer Association clubs and it was determined that MAYSA will be canceling all competition this fall. Expecting this decision, your Rock Soccer Board has been in planning to offer a development program for our current club members for this fall.  

 We have heard from many parents and players who are anxious to have some level of development and activity this fall. Working under the context of the US Youth Soccer Return to Play protocols, we are actively planning training sessions for all players ages U9 through U19.  Given the recent announcement by WIAA we are opening registration for high school boys development this fall and more details will be provided to that age group later this week. 

 It is important to note that any fall development activity is contingent on coach availability and we may require at least one parent per team to be present at the start of each practice to track attendance and monitor safety protocols.  As one might expect, not all coaches are comfortable in this environment and so there is a risk that some teams may not be able to participate this fall.  Due to the expected coach shortage, we unfortunately cannot offer development activity for anyone under the U9 level this fall.  This includes U7/U8 inhouse and little kickers however we plan a weekly skills emails starting in early September for parents with younger players for backyard work.

 It is the intention of the board to execute socially distant practice plans at all levels for a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks. As stated above, this will be done in accordance with US Youth Soccer protocols. It is our hope that towards later September we may be able to offer small-sided 5v5 competitions limited to players of the same age group and only against registered Rock Soccer Club members.  These activities would require additional tracking of player attendance by the team's manager/parent and would be contingent on the guidance from Rock County Health at that point in time.

 The attendance tracking expectations are important for the contact tracing rules in the return to play guidance. Additionally parents will be expected to check their players temperature before every practice and notify the the coach of any covid symptoms.  A full list of parent and player expectations can be found on the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Website (Parent Link) (Player Link).  Please note that all participants will be required to read, sign, and comply with the Rock Soccer Covid policies found at:

 With the cancelation of the fall season, players have three options:

  1. Complete withdrawal from the 2020-21 season, which would include the spring, you will receive a full refund.  

  2. Withdrawal from the fall season only, you will receive a partial refund, 50% of the fee for full season players or 100% for fall only players.  

  3. Participation in the fall development program, which will cost $65.

 For option 3, if you paid in full at the time of registration, you will receive a partial refund for the fall minus $65.  If you paid in installments, the Sept 21st payment will be for $65 and the Oct 19 payment will be changed to March 8 and be for the remaining balance owed.  If we do not hear from registered players, we will assume they will be participating in the fall developmental program (defaulting to option is #3) 

 We realize that not all families may be comfortable proceeding forward given the current state of the covid pandemic.    If you are uncomfortable with this strategy approved by our board of directors we would ask that you email our club registrar at as soon as possible but no later than September 2nd and communicate the fact that you would like to withdraw for the fall season.  You will not be billed and, if you paid at the time of registration, you will receive a full refund by September 20th.  

 Any player that participates in practice and remains on the roster as of September 2nd will be billed $65 for this activity. This cost covers player insurance and a small portion of the field upkeep this fall.  This fee will not cover all the program expenses.   

 The Rock Soccer Board is excited to offer this opportunity for a safe and meaningful development program this fall.  That said, we will be monitoring the infection rates in Rock County and reserve the right to cancel the program if so directed by Rock County Health.  If we are forced to cancel after September 2nd, we cannot offer refunds as we will be committed to cover insurance costs for all registered players.
