Good Evening Parents,
We continue to monitor guidance from US Soccer Federation (USSF), Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) , Madison Area Youth Soccer Association (MAYSA), School District of Janesville (SDJ), and the Rock County Health. Your Rock Soccer Board met this evening to discuss the guidance from these resources. With strong consideration for player and spectator safety, we have developed the following plan for the next few weeks:
As of today, Monday March 16th, Rock Soccer will be cancelling all activities until at least April 6th. This timing aligns with the guidance given by the Governor and the current school closing schedule. There will be no club practices until at least April 6th. Currently WYSA and MAYSA are hoping to start the spring season on April 30th. Coaches will be asked to reschedule all April games into May, June and up to July 12th, Also, we are still planning on holding the Clash tournament on May 9 and 10th. These dates are preliminary and certainly are subject to change as the Covid-19 situation continues to change.
Even though we cannot practice as teams over the next few weeks, we would strongly encourage you get outside with your player and kick the ball around. This is a stressful time for many of us but getting out and having some fun with the soccer ball will certainly be helpful for the players (and maybe us as parents).
As we all know, this is a very fluid situation so we do anticipate the need to provide additional guidance over the next several weeks. At a minimum, we will send out another club-wide message on or before March 31st regarding the start of practices.
We ask all RSC families to support each other during this difficult time and we look forward to proving a more positive outlook in just a couple short weeks.
Your Rock Soccer Board
