Classic Competitive Programs

Key Information:

About the Competitive Program:

The Competitive program is an opportunity for players ages U11-U19, under the guidance of our Coaching Director and licensed coaches, to play at a competitive level that focuses on developing the player to their highest potential while instilling a passion for the game and teamwork.  Teams play matches against skilled and competitive teams in either MAYSA (Madison Area Youth Soccer League) League or State League.  The goal is that our players can accelerate their growth both physically and mentally.

While the teams are competitive, the club is committed to making soccer accessible to as many players as possible.  It is the goal to place every child on a team.

Player Evaluations/Tryouts:

All kids aged U11 and above interested in playing for Rock Soccer Club for 2017 Fall – 2018 Spring season must participate in the team placement/tryout process held end of May/early June. Players who wish to join after this evaluation should contact the Coaching Director. The club will be offering RSC Academy teams for U7-U10 ages and registration for these groups will open mid-May.

Detailed Information about Evaluation Date and Times can be found here.

The annual fee for MAYSA League player is $375 and State League player $425 per player for the full year.

  • $225 due by June 30; and remaining $150 or $200 by September 1
  • Fee includes a reduced futsal registration fee for winter training.
  • Tournaments will be an additional fee and are due in full at time of tournament registration. All U11-U14 teams participate in RSC Spring Clash Soccer Tournament.
  • Team uniform is required.  Approximately $60

  • The high school player fee is $180 for MAYSA League or $225 for State League.  Payment due by July 31.

RSC is committed to seeing every player participate.  The club continues to be the best value of any area competitive program.  The Rock Soccer Club Scholarship program offers financial assistance to qualified applicants.

Non-high school players who wish to play Fall or Spring only may tryout and designate their preferred season.  Based on other players, RSC will try to match Fall and Spring players together on teams.  The fee will be $225.

Competitive Program Player Expectations:

Players are expected to be committed to their team and coaches. In order to develop and reach individual and team goals, players need to respect their coaches as they provide valuable insight and instruction. Players are expected to commit to improving the team, as well as their individual performance. As such, developing teamwork, spirit and togetherness are very important.

Practice:

  • The training and game season typically lasts 12 weeks in fall and 12 weeks in spring.
  • At each coach’s discretion, team may practice prior to or beyond the MAYSA/WYSA season.
  • Team practice dates will be determined by the head coach.  Practice will typically be 2 days per week typically 1.5 to 2 hours for each practice.
  • Coaches may decide to practice more.

Player Commitments:

  • Players are members of team for the entire season August 1 2017- July 31, 2018.
  • Attend all required practices and games.
  • Have their own required equipment and attire for every practice and game.
  • Be at practice at least 5 minutes early ready to practice and to games at least 35 minutes early.
  • Understand playing time is earned by the athlete through both attitude and skill.
  • Adhere to MAYSA’s and the Club’s Parent/Player code of conduct at all times.

League and Tournament Play:

  • The teams will play in the MAYSA Classic league or WYSA’s state league.
  • There are approximately 8 games in fall and 8 games in spring; half home and half away.  Travel for classic teams is within MAYSA.  State teams can involve travel to other cities including Madison/Milwaukee/Appleton/Sheboygan.
  • Tournaments are selected with coach and parent input and may include an overnight trip.  Tournaments may be outside of the MAYSA district.  MAYSA teams traditionally do 1-3 tournaments and State 3-4 tournaments.
  • RSC believes that good player coach communication is the foundation of a successful team.  The club does have a formal Grievance Policy should parents or coaches feel they need additional avenues to voice concerns. The policy is available on the website.

Placement for U11-U19 Teams are done through an Evaluation/Tryout Process held in end of May/early June each year. However throughout the year, there may be openings so if you are new to the community, etc. please email for information at info@rocksoccerclub.org.

Girls High School teams play in Fall and Boys teams play in Spring but both tryouts are held in May/June.
